COVID 19 Announcement

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Higher Horizons team are now working from home. We are still available to support schools, teachers and young people with our usual activities, though we are taking a 'virtual first' approach to delivery. You can also access free virtual resources for your school by clicking the resources button. Get in touch to find out more about what we can offer your school at this time.

We are Higher Horizons+

We are part of the Uni Connect Programme, funded by the Government to deliver free and impartial higher education outreach to schools and colleges across Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire.

Our Impact in numbers

  • 20,000+ Young People
Have taken part in our activities since January 2017
  • 53.4% Of Young People
Who took part in our activities applied to university in 2019
  • 3x More Likely
To apply to university if you take part in our programme

What we do

Our Progression Framework shapes the activities we deliver to schools and colleges. The framework is designed to be an outreach curriculum, structured around three key themes:

Inform

Information, advice, and guidance about post-16 and post-18 choices including college, university, and apprenticeships

Experience

Providing hands-on experiences at one of our university, college, or employer partners

Enable

Supporting subject interests and attainment, and helping learners make successful transitions to the next level of study

Information, Advice and Guidance Core Programme Now Available

Our free six-hour programme is available for each key stage, tailored to all the information specific year groups need to know to progress through further and higher education.

What other schools have said

We have seen traditionally very low aspirations with regards to progression to Higher Education. Higher Horizons are an invaluable addition to the work we do to raise aspirations, remove barriers and reduce the attainment gap for our students.
